Seminole Tribe of Florida Jason Taylor Celebrity Golf Classic
2009 Seminole Tribe of Florida Jason Taylor Celebrity Golf Classic Raises More Than $300,000

“A Night in Paradise” Tropical Dinner & Charity Auction Poolside at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel

Jason Taylor, the 2007 NFL Man of the Year, hosted the sixth annual Seminole Tribe of Florida Jason Taylor Celebrity Golf Classic Presented by Rothstein Rosenfeldt Adler on March 29-30, 2009.  Taylor kicked off the festivities on Sunday, March 29 with a Tropical Dinner and Auction held poolside at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood, Fla. The event concluded on Monday, March 30 with a day of golf at Grande Oaks Golf Club in Davie.  More than $300,000 was grossed over the weekend, with proceeds benefitting the Jason Taylor Foundation, Holtz Children’s Hospital and Take Stock in Children.

Sunday’s dinner truly was “A Night in Paradise” as the Hard Rock’s lagoon-style pool area featuring a rock mountain and waterfall was adorned with fire and pool dancers, a giant sandcastle, tiki torches and South Beach lounge-style outdoor décor.  Taylor was joined by an All-Star guest list that included Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino, hockey legend Mario Lemieux, Dolphins Pro Bowl running back Ronnie Brown, Pop Star Chris Kirkpatrick (*NSYNC), Dwight Freeney (Indianapolis Colts All-Pro), Wes Welker (New England Patriots Pro Bowl wide receiver), Jonathan Ogden (ten-time NFL All-Pro), Myron Rolle (Rhodes Scholar), Morten Andersen (NFL’s All-Time leader in points scored), Chris Doleman (eight-time Pro Bowl performer), O.J. McDuffie (two-time Miami Dolphins MVP), Dwight Stephenson (Pro Football Hall of Famer), Craig Ehlo (14-year NBA veteran) and others.

Guests were entertained by Latino Fire throughout the cocktail reception, followed by the Valerie Tyson Band for the remainder of the evening.  Joe Rose of NBC-6 and WQAM, joined Jason on stage as they introduced the evening’s key dignitaries, including Seminole Tribe of Florida Chairman Mitchell Cypress, Rolando Rodriguez of the Jackson Memorial Foundation, who was joined by Akeem Dollard, a patient at the Holtz Children’s Hospital, and Tatiana Jackson, one of 18 new Jason Taylor Scholars as part of the Foundation’s partnership with Take Stock in Children.

Tee-off at Grande Oaks Golf Club began Monday morning as Cris Carter (former NFL All-Pro), Alonzo Mourning (Miami Heat All-Star) and Grammy Award-winning drummer Tico Torres (Bon Jovi) joined in on the action.  Following a round of golf, in which the team led by Torres claimed first place, Dan Marino ended months of suspense by drawing the winning ticket for the 2009 Scion tC raffle.  Jeff Foster of Payventures, LLC was the proud winner of the new car, donated by JM Family Enterprises, Inc. and Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC.  In an amazing act of generosity, Foster turned around and donated the proceeds from the Scion back to the Jason Taylor Foundation.

In addition to the Seminole Tribe of Florida and Rothstein Rosenfeldt Adler, other major contributors to the Jason Taylor Celebrity Golf Classic include 3CInteractive, ANF Group, Behnke & Associates Insurance, Carnival, Cubavera, Dada, Duane Morris, Dynasty Apparel, Gerlinde & Michael Photography, Gibraltar Private Bank & Trust, Hargrave Custom Yachts, Heritage Travelware, Hooters, Improv of Hollywood, JM Family Enterprises, Inc., JM Lexus, Jordan Brand, JuiceBlendz, NameDrop, NeoStar Sports & Entertainment, Neutrogena, Pepsi, Perry Ellis International, Pro Tect Management, Publix, Redline Media Group, Renato Watches, Segall Bryant & Hamill, Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC and Wescott Financial.
