Black python medium shoulder 'Icon Bit' bag with horsebit and D ring detail. $3,400.
Gucci is pleased to announce the recent launch of its new Icon Bit bag. Having debuted on the Gucci Fall Winter 2009 runway, this new handbag design embodies the same brazen spirit and powerful glamour of Creative Director Frida Giannini’s latest ready to wear collection.
The silhouette of the bag is characterized by a compacted, controlled volume. Its size, reduced to fit perfectly under the arm, features a soft, expandable body. The distinct modernity of its shape and feather-light weight is contrasted with Gucci’s iconic Horse bit metal closure, fashioned in an oversized scale. The juxtaposition of tradition and innovation, of heritage with future, makes this new model a signature addition to Gucci’s rich accessories offering.
Using such tactile materials at crocodile, python, suede, pony skin as well as an iridescent, oil-spill patent, the Icon Bit’s novel shape has been interpreted in several guises. Each offers a highly individual look, punctuated by the equestrian-influenced bit motif. The surface of the bags is further distinguished by a striking palette of colors, from midnight blacks and blues, black silver and purple to oil green, white, and cardinal red. Each bag, lined in color-coordinated napa leather and finished by hand, is the result of meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail.
