Vertu is the pioneer and leading manufacturer of handcrafted mobile phones for the luxury market. First developed in 1995 by Frank Nuovo, Nokia’s visionary Principal Designer, began to develop his idea for a specialist company producing the world’s most exceptional handsets. Vertu was established in 1998 with a team of specialists developing a program of research and development. They took the finest materials from the world of watch making, automotive, aeronautics, and jewelry, using them in ways that had never been done before.
Vertu has three distinct collections - Vertu Signature
, Vertu Ascent
and Vertu Constellation
. These are assembled by hand at the company’s headquarters in England. In near-sterile, individual workshops, to ensure each Vertu piece is assembled in dust-free conditions. Each handset is made up of hundreds of components, every one designed and made exclusively for Vertu and put into exact place by hand. It takes up to three years to master assembling a Vertu handset. Vertu is available exclusively in over 50 countries and in 600 of the finest watch, jewelry, department stores and Vertu boutiques around the world. Vertu phones are known for their meticulous design, the secure protection technology and their lifestyle assistance service.
With their newest collection, the Ascent Ti Carbon Fiber
, Vertu has used a abstract materials never before used on a mobile phone. This is not the first time we have seen this from Vertu, as all of their handsets veer away from the typical. Some materials used have been 18K gold, silver, stainless steel and even a high-tech ceramic that is used on the Space Shuttle. Known for its high strength-to- weight ratio, Carbon Fibre is used as a noteworthy material in aerospace, civil engineering, military, and motorsports. Vertu has now engineered this material via new sophisticated design methods to produce the intricate Carbon Fibre components required to incorporate it into the Ascent Ti. The diagonal rib appearance of each phone is achieved using a twill carbon fibre weave process resulting in a robust and contemporary handset whilst the actual carbon fibre used has been tailor-made in the smallest 1k weave width to create a pattern profile with a perfect dimensional look.
Handcrafted in England, the Ascent Ti is a testament to Vertu’s uncompromising attitude to craftsmanship and engineering. The striking silhouette emulates the clean, sculpted curves of a powerful car, while the onscreen chronograph and offset illumination of the keypad echo precision dashboard instruments. ‘Ti’ is the chemical symbol for Titanium, the non-corrosive element with the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any metal and an ability to withstand extreme temperatures. Usually found in sports car engines, High Performance Titanium forms the chassis of the Ascent Ti handset.
The Ascent Ti Carbon Fiber, like all Vertu handsets, has a sapphire crystal screen, a material so hard it can only be cut with diamond- tipped tools. Difficult to produce, the sapphire is formed in a 2000 Degree Celsius furnace, which is then sliced, shaped and polished. Vertu came across an obstacle, however, the cosmetic sapphire manufacturers were all focused on the Swiss watch industry, they could not make a piece big enough to fit a Vertu screen. After many years of development, Vertu created the biggest piece of cosmetic sapphire in the world.
Vertu Concierge is a unique lifestyle assistance service that provides inspiration and assistance in organizing your life as well as help and advice about your handset. Available twenty-four hours a day from anywhere in the world, this exclusive feature can help customers get theatre tickets, make a restaurant reservation or send a gift around the globe.
Officially a class of its own, Vertu is the only phone in the world to ever receive a hallmark from the Swiss Assay Office, the organization that guaranteed the quality of the world’s finest watches in jewelry. Vertu handsets are a masterpiece of design, engineering and craftsmanship. For more information please visit www.vertu.com
