To benefit the Foundation For the Advancement of Women Now, Inc. (FFAWN), Gucci and Mary J. Blige celebrated September 16th as Gucci for FFAWN Day
in New York. Gucci donated 10% percent of the day’s sales from its New York 5th Avenue Flagship store to FFAWN. Gucci toasted the evening with a private in-store cocktail party co-hosted by Mary J. Blige with guests including Alicia Keys, Estelle, Devon Aoki, Leigh Lezark, Serena Williams, Mark Ronson, Donald Trump, Russell Simmons and Lebron James.
In honor of Gucci for FFAWN Day
, Mary J. Blige hosted a lighting ceremony at the Empire State Building earlier in the day to light the world-famous icon in FFAWN’s colors—purple, yellow and white. Daniella Vitale, President of Gucci America, was also in attendance.
Gucci also launched exclusively in the New York 5th Avenue Flagship store a limited edition black PVD Twirl watch specifically designed by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini to commemorate the partnership. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each limited edition Twirl watch will be donated to FFAWN, and the watch will be available starting today in Gucci stores, on Gucci.com, and at select department and specialty stores in the United States and Canada.
The Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now, Inc. (FFAWN) was created and funded in 2007 by recording artist Mary J. Blige and marketing pioneer Steve Stoute in order to use Mary's personal story and success to inspire women from all walks of life to reach their individual potential. FFAWN hopes to help these women overcome the difficulties they face in their lives and to provide them with the drive and confidence to pursue - and realize - their goals and dreams. Through scholarships, grants, and programs that foster strong self-esteem, career development, and personal growth, FFAWN helps women gain the confidence and skills they need to achieve success.
