“Fiammetta” is the new Ferragamo bag for spring 2010. Fluid and feminine shapes are complemented by the famous Ferragamo icon, Gancio which is used as both an ornament and wood or metal handle. The design is filled with references to the brand’s history, in fact it is a contemporary version of some Ferragamo styles from the ’Seventies when Fiamma Ferragamo created the first bamboo baskets, shopping bags and the great elegant informals.
It was Fiamma who took over the creative direction of the firm after Salvatore died; and she was responsible for the development of the handbag department. This new model is dedicated to her.
The medium-size bag with a detachable shoulder strap has visible stitching and leather trim highlighting the hand craftsmanship and attention to detail which have always distinguished Ferragamo products.
“Fiammetta” will be made in fine materials: crocodile, ostrich and python skins in smoke gray, pearl metallic gray, mercury, as well as cherry, lemon, optical white, off-white and black. The more basic version will be made in nappa with matching leather handles for a more understated look. And, of course, there will be raffia, the material that is part of Ferragamo’s genetic code and of this style’s history, available in ivory or taupe with pearl-finish leather handles.
