“Would you buy a Bentley assembled outdoors, with all the components and upholstery exposed to the elements?  Of course not,” said Alexander Kolbe of HUF HAUS. “Exposing construction materials to rain, snow and humidity means the materials begin to deteriorate even before a building is completed.  Carpenters spend their time compensating for conditions – and often repairing damaged materials – and not on precision construction.  

“We eliminate those problems by building every home component – floors, walls, roofs – in a factory where we control the environment and can use the most sensitive and precise equipment, tools that you will never find at any typical construction site,” Kolbe said.

The result is a home that sets industry standards for energy efficiency because windows and insulation fit precisely.  The extra-thick insulation and thick layers of cement used in flooring also means that HUF HAUS homes are the quietest in the world.  The tight, heavily insulated construction delivers both comfort and silence.

“My wife and I wanted a home for our active family, but where every room could be a sanctuary,” said Henry L.  “We looked at several estates and considered many custom builders.  But no one offered the precision and the customization of HUF HAUS.  It is truly incomparable.”

Improving on the Best Construction
Throughout history, the world’s most durable homes have been built using post and beam construction, a technique that creates large open spaces and solid, enduring structures.  HUF HAUS modernizes the technique by using glue-laminated beams and posts that not only strengthen the structure but also make it more beautiful by joining layers of wood to reinforce their strength.

Such partnership is no accident.  HUF HAUS operates an extensive apprentice program to train junior employees in business management, trades, drafting, carpentry and joinery. The company also provides postgraduate professional education, and offers its staff weekly language courses in English and French.
