Perched high on the cliff top of Kamala and overlooking the Andaman Sea in Phuket is the luxury resort Paresa.
Exclusive. Enticing. Exotic.
It was the haven of tranquillity we had yearned for, the oasis of luxury and indulgence we had sought for so long. Cocooned from the outside world, yet still offering the ultimate Thai experience, we found our “Paradise on Earth” at Paresa Resort, and it exceeded even our lofty expectations.
Located on Phuket’s uber-exclusuve “Millionaires Mile”, Paresa took our breathe away from the moment we arrived. Extending out dramatically from the stunningly sculptured cliff tops of Kamala overlooking the spectacular azure blue waters of the Andaman Sea, the property is also surrounded by lush tropical forests and it immediately instilled a much sought and immediate sense of calm and tranquillity.
Drawing inspiration from the traditional southern Thai homes of bygone eras, Paresa is a unique reinterpretation of Thai cultural traditions and chic modern Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired organic architectural elements that have resulted in a seamless transformation from the lush external surroundings to the simple, yet luxurious, open plan contemporary design of the internal areas, such as our villa, the lounge and the restaurants.
Our elegantly appointed villas offered uninterrupted 270° views across the Andaman Sea. A newfound respect for the environment and nature is also conveyed with the use of natural timbers and materials throughout the property, while magnificently large Banyan trees situated across the further added to the overall beauty and history of Paresa’s pristine natural surroundings and further promoted the feeling of total isolation from the world beyond.
However, despite seeking total isolation and relaxation, we also found it hard to move beyond the surrounds of our villa and its luxuriously super king sized beds dressed in white linens, feather pillows and duvets. Our lavishly appointed bathrooms with white Italian terrazzo tile walls were adorned with traditional Phuket batik-works, while a fully equipped kitchen with a wine cellar and personal butler catered to our every desire. Private exterior verandas also enticed with comfortable daybeds, outdoor treatment salas and a separate outdoor bathroom making our personal villa completely self-contained and ideal for uninterrupted indulgence and relaxation.
For anyone unable to completely remove themselves from contact with the demands of the outside world though, all rooms have WiFi internet access, while the In Villa Bar, espresso machine, LCD TV, DVD player, iPod and sound station cater to every mood and desired form of entertainment.
Unforgettable and unsurpassed were our dining experiences at Paresa’s four distinctive culinary outlets serving mouth-watering traditional Thai and International cuisines. The Mediterranean dining experience at main restaurant, Diavolo (The Devil), was all the more dramatic with its fire red walls and black floors highlighting elegant Italian furnishings, only surpassed by the spectacular 270° ocean views and the enjoyment of the finest wines from around the world from Paresa’s glass wine cellar.
Paresa’s signature restaurant, Talung Thai, enticed more than once with its authentic Thai cuisine in a modern setting and a menu of the most popular dishes from around the Kingdom. Situated high on the cliff top, this idyllic al fresco restaurant also benefits from shade canopies provided by Paresa’a majestic Banyan trees and is the perfect setting from which to enjoy magnificent sunsets across the Andaman Sea.
However, the Infinity experience at Paresa was the ultimate in alfresco dining. Seated on “private islands” in the shallow waters of the fibre optic lit infinity pool, we dined beneath the stars, accompanied by the soothing sounds of ocean waves and warm tropical breezes.
