Bell & Ross’ new Vintage Collection was designed as an homage to the aviators of the 1940’s who were the first professionals to use the wristwatch as a tool on their missions. Each of the three lines in the Vintage Collection is unique but all Vintage watches share the same inspiration, shape and movements. The traditional shape of the collection’s round cases is reminiscent of wristwatches of yesteryear while its ergonomics reflect the comfort today’s wearers have come to expect. The ultra-domed crystal also recalls crystals of that time period when less durable acrylic crystals were rounded in order to prevent cracking. Unlike the original 1940’s wristwatches, however, these crystals are produced using sapphire, one of the hardest substances on earth. The Vintage collection’s dial graphics optimize readability, also taking their inspiration from cockpit instruments. And, as always, the watches in the Vintage Collection are offered with two high quality Swiss movements: an automatic hours, minutes and seconds version (BR 123) and a chronograph version (BR 126).
Although the inspiration is the same, each line in the Vintage Collection is unique. The Vintage Original models are re-editions of watches worn by aviators in the 1940’s: a modern version that conjures the essence of the original models. The cases are satin-finish steel while both the black dial and beige dial versions evoke the style of the era. The Vintage Heritage line combines the authenticity of period watches while its matte black dials reflect the principle of readability exemplified by an aircraft instrument panel. The Vintage Officer line’s polished steel case, black and silver sunburst dials, and the simple, clean lines of its indexes and hands all contribute to its timelessly chic design.
The new Vintage Collection heralds a new era in the history of Bell & Ross watches. A magnificent example of Bell & Ross’ expertise, the new collection is a testament to the consistency and balance among all the brand's collections. It is a perfect example of the Bell & Ross philosophy: creating professional watches while focusing on readability, functionality, accuracy and reliability.
