While the concept of ‘beauty sleep’ is nothing new, the vast research surfacing about the power of sleep to slow aging, increase overall health and productivity and even aid in the burning of fat, has made the concept of sleep one of the timeliest beauty topics around. This summer season I’m excited to introduce you to one of the most cutting edge sleep facilities in the world, and also recommend a nearby spa that will help you further unwind after you’ve relearned healthy sleep patterns.
If you’re feeling stressed out from work and travel or experiencing sleeping problems and burnout symptoms, the latest beauty boosting breakthrough might be just what the doctor ordered. The DeepSleep-Package developed by somnologist Dr. Michael Feld specifically for Swissôtel Berlin is housed in the stress-free confines of this luxurious and comfortable hotel. Experiencing a few days of this regime allows a “DeepSleeper” to understand how to establish good sleep habits and set the tone for long-term sleep changes. Best of all, these therapies are geared for high-powered schedules and can fit into the busiest lifestyle.
As a “DeepSleeper” you’ll start the day with a 30-minutes “light shower” session in front of a bright-light-lamp and receive a wake-up power drink created by Executive Chef Danijel Kresovic, which has an energizing effect through the mixture of different herbs. Add to this a simultaneous lemongrass and lemon oil aroma therapy in your room, and you should wake up easier, with more energy and a happier mood.
Most people have a biological low between 2 and 4 pm that can be avoided through a 20-30 minute power nap in the Swissotel’s Power Napping Lounge that houses a specially designed power napping lounger and a combination of colors and sounds that create relaxation and better performance in the afternoon.
Dr. Feld, whose office is onsite at Swissôtel Berlin, believes that Deep Sleep is attained through a combination of several therapies that promote falling and staying asleep. Thirty minutes of breathing mountain air in the Power Nap Lounge before going to bed creates a comfortable relaxation, as it’s been proven that thinner air is relaxing and tires the body. Guests will then receive a Calm Down drink along with aroma night therapy in their room. A final touch is a special pillow with two integrated speakers, emitting "binaural beats" that stimulate the subconscious brain wave sleep and allow the body to quietly fall asleep.
Whether you’re arriving at the sleek and modern Swissotel Berlin for work and/or sleep therapy, you’ll find yourself in the heart of the world famous shopping street in West Berlin known as the Kurfürstendamm, with numerous cafés, shops, and theaters. The hotel is perfect for business travelers, with nine conference rooms, a state-of-the-art cooking studio for corporate and group events and the luxe Restaurant 44, perfect for entertaining guests with its impressive view of the Ku’damm.
The DeepSleep-Package can be booked at www.swissotel.com/berlin and will support healthy sleep for an additional charge of €60.00 on the regular room rates. In addition to the DeepSleep-package, an extra sleep analysis can be booked either in your room or at Dr. Feld’s office at Swissôtel Berlin.
Just a few hours outside of Berlin, the newly opened Swissôtel Dresden Am Schloss opened its doors in the heart of Dresden’s old town this past April. Within the historically accurate façade is an elegant and modern hotel with a roof terrace perfect for celebrations, and a spa that focuses on the use of environmentally friendly essential oils made from Alpine herbs and meadow flowers.
The term ‘Pürovel‘’ comes from Romansh – Switzerland’s fourth official language – and roughly means ‘pure Alpine river’. There could not be a more fitting metaphor for the new Swissôtel Dresden Am Schloss’ Pürovel Spa & Sport facilities. The spa provides a relaxing haven of four contemporary treatment rooms and a wide range of facials, massages and cosmetic treatments. The original vaulted cellar from the 15th century provides a gorgeous atmospheric backdrop in the Pürovel Relaxation Room and blends seamlessly with the stone, wood and water design of the spa. I recommend the 60-minute Pürovel Mountain Stone Massage for a deeply satisfying experience. Rooms and treatments can be booked via www.swissotel.com/dresden or for more information please contact email@example.com.
Wishing you a restful and beautiful summer season!
