Located at the end of a charming cobbled walkway that leads to the most beautiful view in Capri, Hotel Punta Tragara has everything that you could desire for a relaxing and romantic holiday: an exclusive location, luxurious five-star accommodation, gourmet dining, a boutique spa, two pools, charming personal service, and breathtaking views of the legendary Faraglioni Rocks and the Azure Sea.
Originally conceived by legendary architect Le Corbusier, this special hotel captures the very essence of the timeless beauty of Capri. Its striking architecture is sculpted out of the rock face and its unique cliff top location features captivating views of Marina Piccola. Part of the Manfredi Fine Hotel Collection, Punta Tragara is open seasonally from April until October. Whether you are seeking a relaxing stop on your Roman holiday or desire the perfect setting for a first or second honeymoon, look no further.
Upon arrival you can arrange for the hotel to transfer your luggage from the ferry, leaving you unencumbered as you get started exploring the splendor that is Capri. Punta Tragara is only a fifteen-minute walk from La Piazzetta along a scenic and climbing path; if you are disinclined to walk, it is reachable by taxi or funicular.
The famed “three sons of Capri” can best be viewed from the lookout point at Punta Tragara, located at the end of the scenic Via Tragara. The hotel dates back to circa 1920, when Engineer Vismara built a private villa on the suggestion of the famous French architect Le Corbusier. During the Second World War, it was used as the headquarters in Italy for the American Command. It once hosted a secret meeting between General Eisenhower and Sir Winston Churchill—a plaque located at the hotel’s entrance commemorates Churchill’s visit. In 1968, Count Manfredi bought the villa and turned it into the luxury Hotel Punta Tragara, taking on the management of the property.
A member of Small Luxury Hotels, Punta Tragara offers an array of 44 elegantly appointed rooms and suites. No two are the same, and each has its own unique modern and understated décor. All have comfortable beds with beautiful linens, spacious bathrooms with stunning lighting, marble tile, and waterfall showers. The panoramic views from the rooms and terraces are phenomenal, and as the light shifts according to the time of day, the sea reflects different gorgeous hues.
Many junior suites feature a split level design, with a dressing room and lounge downstairs and the bedroom and bath upstairs. The six special suites are spacious and bright and feature contemporary artwork, antique furniture, walk-in closets, and spacious marble tiled bathrooms.
The Art Suite is furnished with modern and classical décor. It offers an amazing bathtub looking right onto the Faraglioni and a terrace which closes the distance between man, sky, and shimmering sea.
The vaults in the luxury Penthouse Suite lead to a large terrace overlooking a landscape of rare beauty--the austere Faraglioni rocks of Capri throw into sharp relief the sparkling little town of Marina Piccola. The Castiglione hill is so close, you can almost reach out and touch it. The large bathroom features a Jacuzzi and is the ideal place in which to relax and unwind.
Breakfast is included and features a wide selection of pastries, Italian cured meats, cheeses, fruit, and made-to-order omelets.
In the evening, you can enjoy a romantic meal and casual Italian dining at the hotel’s Monzù Gourmet. Both the main dining room and the outdoor terrace afford panoramic views of the sea, perfect for intimate candle-lit dinners. The service is attentive, but never intrusive, and the food is superlative. Executive Chef Luigi Lionetti offers many favorite Capri and Neapolitan dishes, accenting traditional preparations with innovative twists.
La Pergola Pool Bar is the ideal spot to enjoy a thirst-quenching drink or specialty cocktail, while watching a spectacular sunset.
If you are feeling a bit more adventurous, Manfredi also owns a wonderful restaurant near the center of Capri. Located a short stroll from the hotel, Italian celebrity chef Gennaro Esposito’s newest restaurant, Mammá, serves guests the freshest local seafood and famous Neapolitan pizza from a traditional wood burning oven. Drawing on his experience from Michelin-starred restaurants in Monte Carlo, Paris, and Vico Equense, Chef Esposito combines award-winning cuisine, stylish interiors, and a breathtaking outdoor terrace overlooking the Bay of Naples. Mamá received its first Michelin star in November 2014.
There are many ways to relax at Punta Tragara. There are two pools—one heated—and Unica Spa, designed by Italian Architect Livio Talmona. It offers four treatment rooms, a relaxation area, and a gym. Spa guests can benefit from various treatments in a special tub which has been enriched with aromatic Dead Sea salts. The beneficial effects of Capri sea water on the human body have been known since antiquity. For honeymooners, the couples massage is a must.
Boat rentals and private tours of the Blue Grotto, Amalfi Coast, and Gulf of Naples are available, and the hotel’s concierge will be delighted to organize and customize the perfect itinerary for you. In every direction leading from the hotel, you will find beautiful walks--rich with historical significance--that arrive at Capri’s finest boutiques.
